Upgrade to a suite it's worth it. JT -Thank you for spending 5 days with us, it was our pleasure to be able to upgrade you to a suite. We are happy you had a great stay and we look forward to seeing you again next time.
Really enjoyed it! It has a wonderful homey atmosphere! The beds were very comfortable, great outside fire area, wonderful choices for breakfast. We would've given it a 5, but it's needing some updates, which they are planning very soon. Can't wait to see it when it's done!We would definitely stay again!!
Great stay This is our 2nd stay here. Great rooms. Great breakfast. Great staff. Only downside is sort of hard to find, but GPS solves that. Also some of the rooms are being remodeled but does not affect the guest areas.
WOW! Excellent customer service at front desk while checking in. Really attractive lobby area - just like a lodge! Our room was wonderful! Loved the massage chair, Comfy bed & shower! We'll definitely be back & give rave reviews!
Very nice stay! Hotel was even nicer than I expected! We stayed in whirlpool suite room 202. I was surprised that there wasn't a mini-fridge, that was the only drawback. They are currently remodeling some of their rooms, but I only noticed the sounds of the work during the daytime hours. They hotel was very focused on cleanliness and smelled nice. The morning breakfasts are a bit more special than your ordinary hot continental breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and I was disappointed that there were only belgian waffles one of the mornings, but there were other... read more good things available. They make the eggs right out in the open and are very attentive to their food and making sure it is all nicely prepped and displayed. There are afternoon/evening snacks available - chips and salsa, etc... There is a nice firepit outside in the front that they light nightly with chairs around. Pool and exercise room were clean and adequate. However, would be nice to have a small selection of free weights. Hotel was nice to give me a late checkout and were friendly. I will definitely be staying again given the opportunity! read less

Weekend Getaway We stayed there for 2 nights during the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is tucked away in the back lot surrounded by other hotels and chain restaurant. It was a quiet location. Check in was quick and we assigned the room in the top floor as requested. Upon entering the room, it was spacious with typical amenities like refrigerator and coffee maker. The door mirror off the bathroom door was taken off leaving the adhesive stain, which is an eyesore but other than that, it looked like a nice clean room. The fire alarm was making chirping sound and a... read more call to the front desk and maintenance was quickly dispatched to replace the battery but it didn't stop the chirping. Maintenance was called again and he replaced with a new fire alarm. The free breakfast had the typical food options (pastries, waffles, sausage and egg, etc.) and the scramble egg was cooked fresh. The breakfast area was right at the main lobby so it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded like the other hotel's setting, though the scattering of the food stations mean people always roaming around. The hotel also has other amenities like board games on the lobby and pool, which we didn't use. It was a very good stay and value for the money, the only draw back was the slow internet and the door might slam loudly, which is more of a nuisance but it didn't bother us too much. If we return to Des Moines area, we would definitely consider or return to the Wildwood Lodge. read less
Amazing Getaway Weekend This hotel was FANTASTIC! From the friendly staff to the great room, we enjoyed it all. And at a great price! There were towel art swans on the jetted tub. The room layout was great. The in room jetted tub was the best we've ever used, and I've gotten them in many hotels, some that I paid a lot more for the room. The breakfast in the morning was great. They were preparing the scrambled eggs right in front of us! There is an outdoor firepit that looked very inviting, we just ran out of time to try it. But... read more that will be on the list for our next visit! read less
Hidden Gem I was driving cross country from east to west, was tired and really needed a place to relax and sleep. I found this hotel using a different app because the price through trip adviser was higher. I was very pleasantly surprised when I found the hotel and the welcoming outdoor gas fireplaces by the main entrance. The lobby has a very woodsy, rustic theme and made me feel very welcome. There was no line to check in and the person at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. I was also very surprised to learn that upon check-in you... read more got a complementary adult beverage that you could enjoy either in their wonderful lobby or in your room. The room was absolutely outstanding! It was quite large, everything about it was impressively clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfy. The room had a cabin decor including a wall mount of full-size decorated canoe paddles. The morning breakfast was served hot and fresh and gave you many choices to choose from. For the quality of their facility, spacious rooms, and the friendly staff, I would’ve expected to pay much more for room. That is why I gave this facility a five star rating and will stay here again. The only nit that I do have is that I drive an electric vehicle and they did not have any charging facilities in their parking area. Since electric vehicles are becoming more common, I hope to find more hotels with at least one charger (30 - 50A) in their parking lots. read less
Nice, Dog Friendly Hotel This is the 2nd time we've stayed here with our labrador. The hotel is decorated in an "up north " decor. They put dog rooms on the 1st floor with easy access to the outside. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and a great hot breakfast. Plus. They only charge $15 for your dog. Very nice and accommodating staff.
Exceptional Customer Service & Very clean rooms. I booked a room for my adult special-needs sister and her husband, also special needs at Wildwood Lodge and once again they received exceptional service. My sister & Brother in Law always enjoy the complementary breakfast and one of the desk clerks noticed my Brother in Law did not know how to operate the waffle maker and offered to make his waffles for him! Everyone both my family and I came in contact with were professional and kind, Also, the room was spotless as well as the bathroom. This is the third time (1x/year) in this hotel and they continue... read more to be consistently excellent......offering to help my Brother In Law with his waffle on a busy Saturday morning was definitely "going the extra mile!". Fishing and Hunting Lodge The rooms are clean and comfortable! The breakfast choices are outstanding. The staff are professional and friendly. If I closed my eyes, I would swear I'm in a hunting and fishing lodge! All the comforts of home away from home.
Awesome! Everything was better than great. The staff cared and made sure to accommodate my every need. Not to mention the breakfast and snacks from 5 to 7pm! I have no complaints and will use The Wildwood Lodge for all my personal trips in the future.
My Experience Whirlpool was excellent, enjoyed the breakfast, staff was very guest friendly, decor was phenomenal, you could definitely tell the housekeepers work extremely hard to maintain the cleanliness of the hotel, total toot in my books!
LOVED IT! My husband and I needed a time alone getaway, we chose Wildwood Lodge. We stayed for 2 days and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room was clean, super comfortable, and spacious. I love the decor of the whole place! We ate complementary cookies, warm and yummy, each day. We enjoyed the free breakfast each morning. The evening lounge was very nice. Our favorite was swimming and hot tubbing. The staff were phenomenal, always said hello with a smile, made us feel so welcome. We eill definitely be back!!
